The Clay Eater: P.S. Why SEIU endorsed Clinton

To quote one of those things that I say all the time, of course there are reasons - there are always reasons. There just happen to be better reasons to do just the opposite.

Worm's eye view

In the Southeastern and Appalachian US, the worst-off in some communities - the "sand hillers" or "trailer trash," those "as poor as Joe's turkey" - are proverbially so poor they resort to geophagy (eating dirt, either for its minerals, or due to insanity). The frequency of clay eating is usually exaggerated. The poverty is usually minimized or ignored.
